The Red Storm's Brandy Reyes and Lisa Geer each had RBI singles to drive in the first two runs and they added another run on a wild pitch to take a three-run cushion after one inning. Sheehy cut the lead to 3-1 in the third inning when she singled up the middle to score sophomore Julie Fowler (Langley, B.C.) who reached on a fielder's choice. The Friars then evened the score (3-3) in the sixth inning when junior Gina Rossi (Bakersfield, Calif.) hit a two-run home run. It marked Rossi's fourth home run of the season.
Junior pitcher Jennifer Maccio (Huntington Station, N.Y.) gave up three runs in the first inning, but then held the Red Storm scoreless in the next four innings. She finished with two strikeouts.
