DES MOINES, IOWA - Providence College junior Danette Doetzel (Macklin, Saskatchewan) claimed All-America honors with a second-place finish in the 10,000 meter run at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, June 12 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Doetzel completed the 10,000 meter event in a time of 33:44.23, while Lisa Koll of Iowa State took home the NCAA individual title with a time of 32:44.95. Doetzel entered the NCAA Championships having earned USTFCCCA Division I Northeast Region Female Athlete of the Year honors for the outdoor season.

In the field of 27 runners in the 10,000 meter championship, Doetzel beat out third-place finisher Alexandra Gits of Stanford (33:49.73), Marisa Ryan of Boston University (3:54.38) and Katrina Rundhaug of Wisconsin (34:00.62). Ryan and Rundhaug rounded out the top-five finishers.
