Orem, Utah - The Providence College volleyball team fell to Texas-Pan American, 3-2 on Friday, November 16 in the first match of the Division I Independent Tournament in Orem, Utah. The Friars were defeated by the scores of 27-30, 30-28, 30-32, 30-23, and 15-12. Providence record falls to 18-11.

Junior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.) led the way for the Friars by tallying 21 kills with a hitting percentage of .340. Senior Sarah Fleming (Saint Paul, Minn.) added a double-double 20 kills and 11 digs. Junior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Larkspur, Colo.) recorded a match-high 30 digs at defense for the Friars.

Junior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was a force again at the net with 18 kills and seven blocks. Junior setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) recorded a match-high and season-high 60 assists.

The Friars will play Utah Valley State at approximately 4:00 p.m. ET.

Providence will play one more match tomorrow, Saturday, November 17 at 3:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. ET.
