2008 Blue-White Weekend
Numerous events will be held in or around Beaver Stadium April 18-19 to celebrate the 2008 Blue-White Weekend. A carnival is back again outside of Beaver Stadium beginning at 6 p.m. Friday and will include live music and food. The Nittany Lion Club Blue-White Luncheon will be held at the Bryce Jordan Center at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and a pre-game autograph session with the players will be held at 12:30 p.m. in Beaver Stadium. The Blue-White Game will kick-off at 2 p.m. There is no admission or parking fee for the game. Carnival events continue on Saturday as well or you can catch women's lacrosse of baseball this weekend as well. Women's Soccer Head Coach Headed to Olympics
Penn State women's soccer coach Erica Walsh will be attending the 2008 Beijing Games as an assistant coach for the U.S. women's soccer squad. Penn State alumna Erin McLeod also qualified for the games with the Canadian National Team. Walsh and the U.S. grabbed the CONCACAF tournament championship Saturday with a 6-5 penalty kick win over Canada. Walsh is the first Penn State women's soccer coach to represent the Nittany Lions in the Olympic Games.
A Record-Setting Weekend for Track & Field
Redshirt sophomore Aleesha Barber and freshman Karlee McQuillen both had school-record performances on Saturday. McQuillen had a career best 176-0 on her first attempt in the javelin, beating Penn State's previous record by nearly 12 feet and setting the new American Junior Record (Under 20). Barber clocked a career-best and new school record of 13.27 in the 100 hurdles. Seven total Nittany Lions added regional-qualifying performances.

Men's Gymnast Captures Silver Medal
Penn State assistant coach and Olympic hopeful
Kevin Tan won a silver medal on the still rings at the 32nd Turnier der Meister. Tan was the only member of Team USA to advance to the finals in any event. He also placed eighth in the parallel bars. Tan now joins the Nittany Lions in Stanford, Calif., as they pursue the program's 13th NCAA title at the 2008 National Collegiate Championships beginning April 17.
Former Nittany Lions Visit Troops
Former standouts Todd Blackledge and Kenny Jackson were among eight former NFL players to visit troops in Kuwait during the USO's Operation Gridiron. Blackledge and Johnson were both members of Penn State's 1982 National Championship team. The two coached the troops who participated in a two-day, round-robin flag football tournament.
