The Rice Owls have completed their non-conference schedule for the 2009 football season with the completion of an agreement that will bring the Midshipmen of Navy to Rice Stadium for a game on October 10, 2009.

The Owls will host Navy and Vanderbilt (September 26) at Rice Stadium, while they have road games slated at Texas Tech (September 12) and Oklahoma State (September 19) to round out the 2009 non-conference slate. All game dates are subject to change.

The Owls conference schedule for 2009 will not be announced until next spring, but Rice will host games next year with UTEP, Tulsa, Tulane and one team from the conference's Eastern Division.

This will be the 12th meeting between the Rice and Navy in a series that began in 1951. Rice holds an overall 6-5 lead in the series. Included in the series history was a meeting in the 1958 Cotton Bowl, when Navy took a 20-7 decision.

The two schools last met at Rice Stadium in 2005 when the Middies defeated the Owls 41-9. Navy has won the last two games at Rice Stadium after the Owls won the first four contests.
