June 27, 2008 UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
University of Richmond Director of Athletics Jim Miller has been selected as a member of the NCAA's newly-formed Leadership Council. Miller will be the Atlantic 10's representative for a four-year term beginning September 1, 2008.
The Leadership Council is part of the NCAA's new governing structure, which will also include a Legislative Council. The Leadership Council will serve as an advisory group to the NCAA's Board of Directors, focusing on issues on the horizon of intercollegiate athletics.
"I'm honored to be selected by my colleagues in the Atlantic 10 to represent our conference," said Miller. "I'm excited to be part of this new group that will be charged with the task of helping chart Division I's course with a national focus rather than an institutional or conference-based scope."
Georgia Athletics Director Damon Evans will chair the committee, which will begin its work in August.
Miller, in his ninth year as Richmond's Director of Athletics, previously served on the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA) Committee.
