NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Senior goalkeeper Erica Marrocco was named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week after collecting 16 saves in Richmond's 16-8 win over previously unbeaten La Salle Friday. Marrocco finished the week with 20 saves, five ground balls and one caused turnover.

The Duxbury, Mass. native tops the A-10 and is seventh in the nation with 143 saves on the season. Marrocco averages just over nine saves a game which also ranks first in the A-10 and 20th in the nation.

Marrocco recorded her most memorable game to date against Duke this season, collecting a career-high 22 saves. The 22 saves is only three shy of tying a school record.

Marrocco has started every game since her sophomore year, and is currently third all-time in save percentage.

The Spiders wrap up regular season-play at Duquesne and St. Bonaventure this weekend.
