Santa Clara Outdoor Track Heads to Sacramento for Hornet Invitational Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara outdoor track team will be competing in the Hornet Invitational at Sacramento State this weekend on Saturday, March 22. The Broncos have already broken several school records already this season and have performed well in the two events this year. At the Wildcat Relays two weeks ago, the Santa Clara women won three events. Danielle Miller took first in the 3000M steeplechase with a time of 11:45.81. The 4x100 relay team composed of freshmen Jacqueline Lynch, Kashmir Brown, Jennifer Hinds, and sophomore Joanna Gistand won their race with 50.32. Later on Hinds, Lynch, junior Brittany Hodill and freshman Cristina Cordua added another first place finish in the sprint medley with a time of 1:55.93. It was a successful day for the men's side as well, with freshman Robert Reid taking second place in the 800M (1:57.76) and Michael Delaurenti placing third in the 3000M steeplechase with a time of 9:33.51. The Hornet Invitational will start at 9:00 a.m. and run throughout the day.
