Reynolds Helps U.S. Under-23 To Nordic Cup Title

July 22, 2008

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara junior Katherine Reynolds helped the United States under-23 women's national team defend its Nordic Cup title with a 3-0 win over Germany. It was the American's fourth consecutive shutout of the tournament.

Reynolds, along with Meghan Schnur (UConn), Becky Sauerbrunn (Virginia) and Nikki Krzysik (Virginia) made up the U.S. back line that played almost every minute in the tournament.

"Our defense played very well once again," said U.S. coach Bill Irwin. "At the beginning of the second half, they came at us and we handled it well. It is a credit to our defense that we came through the Nordic Cup with a clean slate."

For the tournament, recent Bronco alum Brittany Klein scored her first two international goals, while junior Kiki Bosio increased her career tally to four goals.
