Bronco Women's Tennis Defeats Portland State 6-1

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Santa Clara women's tennis team defeated Portland State 6-1 on the road Wednesday afternoon. The Broncos earned the doubles point and Carmen Pham's singles victory at the No. 4 spot clinched the win. The Broncos won the doubles points with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. The point came down to the No. 3 doubles match between Myra Davoudi and Lindsay McBride and Stephanie Fuchs and Anya Dalkin. The match went to a tiebreaker and the Broncos posted a final score of 9-8(4). Heading into singles action with a 1-0 lead, Santa Clara registered wins at the No. 2-6 spots. Davoudi fought back in the second set to defeat Fuchs (6-4, 7-6(1)) at second singles, while McBride earned a (6-1, 6-2) win at third singles. Pham's (6-3, 6-2) triumph at the No. 4 spot sealed the deal for the Broncos. Ashley Pane also registered a straight set victory (6-2, 6-1) over Alyssa Ferry at No. 5 singles. Courtney Hull earned the final point for Santa Clara at the sixth spot with a (6-3, 2-6, 10-5) win.
