SAN ANTONIO, TX - Junior outfielder Michael Rockett banged out three hits and scored four times as the University of Texas - San Antonio baseball team collected 15 hits enroute to an 11-0 win over visiting Sacred Heart Friday night.
Jared Balbach started on the hill for the Pioneers and gave up four runs, two of them earned in four innings. He gave up two in the first on two hits. He surrendered two unearned runs in the third inning on a two-out error by shortstop Phil Tantillo.
Chris Zaccherio came on in relief for SHU in the fifth and hurled a scoreless inning. UTSA touched him for three runs in the sixth, two of the driven on a double by Rockett.
Senior Steven Vasquez made the start for the Roadrunners and allowed six hits in seven innings of work. He struck out 12 without issuing a walk.
Three of the seven Sacred Heart hits came off the bat of senior Jeff Hanson.
The two teams will face off in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 3 PM Eastern time.
