Box Score

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Tulane University batters took advantage of four errors and nine walks by Sacred Heart pitchers to runaway with a 12-0 victory on Sunday in the final of a three-game series between the teams.

Tulane, 16-6, scored three runs in the first inning without the benefit of a hit. SHU starter Jared Balbach walked the leadoff hitter and then made an errant throw when the next hitter attempted a sacrifice bunt. With runners on first and third, second baseman MJ Schiafano made an error that allowed one run to score. The second run scored on a groundout and a third on a wild pitch by Balbach.

SHU, 1-16, got the leadoff hitters on in the first and third innings but both were erased on double play grounders.

The Green Wave essentially put the game away in the third with three more runs with just one hit. Tulane was helped by a pair of walks and a second throwing error by Balbach.

Tyler Santos and Paul Schmidt both finished with two hits apiece for the Pioneers, who have now lost seven straight.
