FAIRFIELD, CT - Senior guard Drew Shubik (Stoystown, PA) has been named the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball today. He is the first Pioneer to claim that honor this season.

One of the top all-around performers in the conference, Shubik helped Sacred Heart stretch its win streak to seven games and take over first place in the conference with a pair of road victories last week. Shubik averaged 12.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.0 steals, while shooting 62.5 percent from the floor and 75.0 percent (3-4) from long range.

In a 92-81 conquest of Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday, he finished one assist shy of a triple double. The senior guard recorded 16 points (7-10 FG, 2-3 3PFG), a career-high 14 rebounds, nine assists and three steals. Two days later, Shubik netted nine points, and added six rebounds, six assists and a steal as the Pioneers' came away with a 63-59 win over St. Francis (NY). His layup with 2:21 to play gave Sacred Heart a four-point edge, while his free throw with four seconds left on the clock clinched the victory for the Pioneers, who are now 13-4 following an 0-6 start to the campaign.

Shubik currently ranks third in the NEC in steals (2.6 spg; 10th nationally), fourth in assists (5.3 apg) and fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.47). He also averages 11.0 ppg and a team-leading 5.7 rpg.
