FAIRFIELD, Conn. (February 8, 2008) - The Sacred Heart men's volleyball team earned their first win of 2008, stopping Lees-McRae in four games Friday night. The Pioneers took the first two games, 30-20, 30-22 before dropping game three 30-27. SHU bounced back in the fourth winning the match 30-28.

Leading the way for the Pioneers (1-5) was junior BJ Smith (Shelton, CT) and sophomore Kalani Efstathiou (Beaverton, OR) who had 13 kills apiece. Sophomore Scott Grandpre (East Greenwich, RI) also had double digit kills with 11 to go with eight digs and a pair of aces and solo blocks.

Smith added four digs along with two solo blocks and four block assists. Efstathiou finished with eight digs while senior Dan DuVall added eight as well. Freshman Roger Parent (Brulington, CT) passed out 48 assists in the win.

For the Bobcats (0-5), Colin Kelly had a match-high 24 kills along with 11 digs and three service aces. Shane Holderby had 14 kills and hit .370 (14-4-27) in the match. Setter Juan Ramirez passed out 45 assists and had 12 digs.

The Pioneers are back in action at Hunter College on Saturday, February 16th.
