JONESBORO, AR - The Sacred Heart women's bowling team had another strong performance in the second day of the Mid-Winter Classic at Arkansas State. The Pioneers won their first four matches of the day, to extend their winning streak to 21, but fell to Jackson State in the last match of the day. More importantly, SHU's total pinfall for the day moved them into second place in the standings.

The team continued its winning ways with victories over Prairie View A&M (1044-849), Florida A&M (962-777), #4 ranked Central Missouri (1013-961) and Alabama A&M (998-850). The day ended with the first loss of the semester. After a slow start, Jackson State defeated SHU, 918-885.

Freshman Sarah Pelletier and senior Jaime Smith continued their phenomenal bowling. Pelletier shot games of 258, 221, 163, 248 and 191 to lead the field in average with at 218.7 for her ten games which earned her tournament MVP honors. Smith shot 205, 206, 246, 181 and 190 for an overall average of 202. She narrowly missed being named to the all-tournament team by three pins.

Competition concludes Sunday with practice starting at 7:45 AM with a strong list of opponents on tap- Wisconsin-Whitewater, Arkansas State, Grambling, top-ranked Nebrask and last year's NCAA national champions, Vanderbilt.
