CCSU Spring Invitational Final Results

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (April 20, 2008) - The Sacred Heart women's golf team finished fifth at this weekend's Central Connecticut Spring Invitational in their finial tune-up before next weekend's Northeast Conference Championship event. The Pioneers shot a two-day score of 699 to place fifth in the nine team field.

Junior Joanne Martorana (Randolph, NJ) held on to her fourth place showing on Saturday, shooting an 86 over the final 18 holes. Martorana fired an 80 during the first round on Saturday at the Stanley Golf Course in New Britain.

Senior Patricia Heyes (Durobin, Ontario) finished tied for 17th with a two-round score of 176. Senior Lauren Foster (Newington, CT), playing right next to home, took five strokes off her day one score with an 88 on Sunday.

The Pioneers will travel to Dade City, Florida from April 25th through 27th for the conference championships. The event will take place at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.
