Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart swimming team's 400 yard medley relay squad qualified for the ECAC Championships by posting a school record time of 4:06.60 on Day One of the Northeast Conference Championships Thursday at Yale University.
SHU's squad of Johannah Kos (Feeding Hills, MA), Laura Johnson (Red Hook, NY), Katie Marshall (Cumberland, RI) and Molly McDonald (Sag Harbor, NY) placed third in the event finals, shattering the old school record by more than nine seconds. Kos swam the backstroke leg of the relay in 29.42, which established a new school record for the 100 yard backstroke.
The Pioneers are in fourth place after the first day of competition. In addition to her performance in the relay, Kos also placed fourth in the 200 yard individual medley, recording a time of 2:13.07 which established another school record.
Central Connecticut leads the team competition after one day. The NEC Championships continue Friday at Yale.
