Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart swimming and diving team set eleven new school records at the Northeast Conference Championships over the weekend. The Pioneers finished fourth and had swimmers qualify for the ECAC Championships in seven different events.

Three of the Pioneer relay squads set new records. The 400 yard medley relay group of Johannah Kos (Feeding Hills, MA), Laura Johnson (Red Hook, NY), Katie Marshall (Cumberland, RI) and Molly McDonald (Sag Harbor, NY) posted a time of 4:06.60, shattering the old school record by more than nine seconds. In the 200 yard medley relay Kos, Johnson, Marshall and Jennifer Crowley (Newington, CT) set a new school mark of 1:56.36. The 800 yard freestlyle relay group comprised of Marshall, McDonald, Jackie Balder (Levittown, NY) and Adriana Morgan (Poughkeepsie, NY) also set a new record, posting a time of 8:08.95, bettering the old mark by more than eight seconds.

In the individual events, Kos set four new records. In the 100 yard backstroke she posted a of time 1:00.70 and followed that with a mark of 2:10.21 in the 200 yard backstroke. Her time in 100 yard backstroke broke a record that had stood since 2003. Kos also broke her own school records in the 200 yard individual medley (2:13.07) and the 400 yard individual medley (4:42.93).

In addition to her performances in the relays, Johnson also posted school records in the breaststroke events. In the 100 yard breaststroke she posted a time of 1:11.33 and set a new record in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.03.

Marshall set two individual records of her own as she posted times in the butterfly events. In the 100 yard butterfly she set a mark of 59.26 and in the 200 yard event she broke her own record by almost two seconds, posting a time of 2:08.29.

SHU's 400 yard medley relay squad qualified for the ECAC Championships with its performance. In addition, Marshall has qualifed in the both butterfly events while Kos will participate in the backstroke and individual medley events.

The ECAC Championships will be held February 28-March 1 at the University of Pittsburgh.
