Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart men's and women's tennis teams both posted convincing wins over Hartford Friday afternoon at the SHU tennnis courts. The Pioneer men shutout the Hawks, winning 7-0, while the women took all three doubles matches and five of six singles contests for a 6-1 victory.
On the men's side, junior Matthew Cook and freshmen Kirill Kasyanov and Cole Conrad all won two matches. Kasyanov took home number one singles and doubles, teaming with Nick Mazzarese to win a 9-7 decision in the doubles. Cook won his third singles match and took the number three doubles with Joseph Lanciotti. Conrad did not drop a game in winning his singles match at number five and won the second doubles match with John Harvey. Freshmen Chris Ujkic and Jinal Shah won the second and fifth singles, respectively.
For the women, after dropping the first singles match, freshman Darcy Demers and sophomore Nicole Betz won the number two and three singles matches and teamed up to take the number one doubles match, dropping a total of five games combined in the three matches. Junior Jessica Schnell won her match at fourth singles and teamed with Lindsey Scierka to win the third doubles match. Senior Britany Price and sophomore Ashley Amalfe won the other two singles matches while Elizabeth Harrington and Mandy Finkelstein took home the final doubles match for the Pioneers.

Both Sacred Heart teams will be back in action Sunday when they visit Quinnipiac. The match will begin at 1:00 pm
