Lehigh John Covert Classic Results

The Sacred Heart women's track & field team piled up 132 total points to edge out East Stroudsburg at the 16th Annual Lehigh John Covert Classic over the weekend. The SHU men finished sixth at the event in the 10 team field.

The Pioneer women racked up six first place finishes at the event led by freshman Angelica Johynson (Hamden, CT). Johnson ran the fastest 60-meter race (7.79) in program history and the Northeast Conference this season, picking up first-place honors in the event.

Senior thrower Marsha Locke (Danbury, CT) was a double winner taking home top honors in both the shot put and weight throw events. Locke won the shot with a throw of 14.01m and the weight event with a heave of 17.15m. Fellow senior Lenahndem Tankeng (Yonkers, NY) finished second in the shot (12.74m) and third in the weight throw (14.56m) behind Locke.

Also in the field, sophomore Brittany Dexter (Ballston Lake, NY) won the high jump clearing the bar at 5'5". Junior Sarana Hyatt (St. Albans, NY) won the women's pentathlon racking up 3,408 total points in the event, winning the long jump (5.40m) and finishing second in the 60m hurdles (9.33) and high jump (1.59m). Senior Brianne Hudak (Corinth, NY) finished second in the event with 3,172 points and sophomore Bonnie Kilis (Marlborough, CT) took third with 3,149 points.
 

 

On the track, sophomore Sarah Tencza (Succasunna, NJ) won the 500-meters with a clocking of 1:20.67. Freshman sisters Dana Troy (Lebanon, CT) and Samantha Troy (Lebanon, CT) both ran well. Dana Troy finished second in the 5,000 meters (18:41.97) while Samanthat Troy ran third in the 3,000 meters (10:54.71).

For the men, sophomore Keith Rowe (Tauton, MA) finished second in the heptathlon with 4,515 total points. Rowe finished second in the 60-meter dash (7.31), third in the 60m hurdles (8.83), second in the high jump (1.83m) and second in the shot put (11.69m).

Junior David Jones (Ballston Lake, NY) picked up a win in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 9:01.44. Senior Michael Barrett (Islip Terrace, NY) took third in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.06 seconds. Junior Luis German (Southampton, NY) finished third in the 800 meters at 2:00.90.
