Morgan Tyler Sets School Record At Sea Rays Relays

April 11, 2008

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ---- Bulldog hurdler Morgan Tyler set a new Samford track and field record in the 400-meter hurdles Friday night at the Sea Rays Invitational hosted by the University of Tennessee. The sophomore just missed the NCAA regional qualifying mark by a second with a time of 1:02.16, which earned her ninth place in the event.

Three other Bulldogs were scheduled to compete on Friday night, but action was washed out as rains came pouring in and events were postponed until Saturday. Michael Smith, Hillary Neal and Lauren Blankenship will all compete Saturday. Smith will run in the men's 400-meter hurdles Saturday morning while Neal and Blankenship will run in the 1500-meters and 5000-meters, respectively, in the afternoon.

Other Bulldogs will be competing in Mississippi while these four try for regional qualifying marks. Other members of the Samford track and field team will be competing in the Ole Miss Invitational in Oxford, Miss.
