Samford Track And Field Heads To Clemson Tiger Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford track and field team is gearing up for competition in the Clemson Tiger Invitational this weekend, Feb. 15-16. The two-day meet is the final meet for the Bulldogs before the Ohio Valley Conference Championships.

The event will be held in the 1800-seating capicity Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex, completed in November 2003. The complex houses a 200 meter flat track surfaced in Mondo Super-X Performance. The track has 73-foot radius corner with six 44-inch lanes on the oval and eight lanes on the straightaway. The infield supports two horizontal jumps runways, tow pole vault runways and one high jump apron. The throwing circle is located outside the track and is concrete and fully enclosed by fencing.

The Tiger Invitational will kick off at 5 p.m. on Friday with the men's distance relay, the women's shot put and the women's pole vault. The women's distance relay will follow along wit the 60-meter hurdle trials, the long jump, 60-meter dash, the men's shot put and the 5000-meter race.

Saturday's events begin at 10 a.m., with the men's pole vault along with the women's weight throw, high jump and men's and women's triple jump. The 60-meter hurdle finals will follow as well as the 60-meter dash finals, the mile run, the 400-meter dash, men's 800-meter run, men's weight throw and high jump, and the men's and women's 200-meter dash, 3000-meter seeded run, 4x400-meter relay and 3000-meter unseeded run.
