BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Samford track and field head coach Rod Tiffin has added another talented student-athlete to the 2008-09 roster. A native of Norcross, Ga., David Polstra joins a young but experienced squad who looks to excel under new leadership in the coming season.

Polstra began vaulting in the sixth grade and has been dedicated to the sport ever since. He holds the pole vault record 5A Northview High School in Duluth, Ga., and placed second in the state in 2008 and four inn 2007.

Polstra is one of 19 newcomers to the Samford track and field team, 18 of them freshman.
