Baseball Travels To Lipscomb For Final Midweek Game

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will travel to Nashville, Tenn., to take on the Lipscomb Bisons Tuesday evening.

Samford enters the week with a record of 29-18 after winning two of three games at Eastern Kentucky over the weekend. Lipscomb is currently 24-23 after losing three of four games in a non-conference series at Winthrop last weekend.

Samford is led at the plate by Michael Marseco, batting .416 with five home runs and 40 RBI. Michael Rutledge is batting .352 with a team-high 46 RBI.

Jonathan Stephens (7-0, 2.28 ERA) and Michael Jarry (3-2, 5.20 ERA) have led the Samford pitching staff so far this season. Caleb Joseph leads Lipscomb at the plate, batting .363 with 50 RBI. Allen Bolden is batting .335 with 33 RBI for the Bisons.

Kyle Tognazzini has a record of 6-0 and an ERA of 2.54 so far this season, and Brandon McClurg is 5-4 with a 2.59 ERA for the Bisons.

Earlier this season, Lipscomb defeated Samford by a score of 5-4 on Feb. 26, at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

Tuesday evening's contest is set for a 6 p.m. start. The game is Samford's final non-conference game of the regular season.
