Football Holds First Practice In Full Pads

March 28, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team held its first practice in full pads Friday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs practiced for two and one half hours in the third practice of the spring season.

"I thought our first day in shorts was great because we had improved so much in a year's time," Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said. "Our first day in pads was also great because of improvement and enthusiasm. So now our goal tomorrow is to keep going forward."

Sullivan was impressed with his defense in this third practice.

"I thought our defense had a good attitude and a much better understanding of what we are trying to do," said Sullivan.

Several players also caught the Bulldog head coach's eye.

"I thought Mark Brown had a nice day," Sullivan said. "Marcus Rice did some good things and Jonathan Lowery made some good catches. John Michael Clay also had a good day."

Samford will practice again in pads Saturday morning at Seibert Stadium. Practice time is set for 10 a.m.
