DIABLO, Calif. --- The Samford men's golf team sits nine shots out of the lead behind Austin Peay after two rounds in the Drake University Diablo Grande Invitational which is being held at the Diablo Grande Resort in Diablo, Calif.

The teams faced unusual weather conditions in the first round on Sunday, trying to play in almost 50 mph wind gust. First round scores were very high, Samford being no different, shooting 332 in the first round. The Bulldogs improved 38 shots in the second round on Monday, putting them in third place.

Tyler Baird led the Bulldogs Monday, shooting 72 with Ian Cutting and Houston Hough following with scores of 73. John Turnipseed and Martin Bunt round out the Bulldog five with 76 and 77, respectively.

The Diablo Grande Invitational concludes Tuesday with one last round of 18. A full recap and results will be available on www.samfordsports.com as soon as results become available.
