London Named OVC Freshman Of The Year :: London was also named to the second-team All-Conference and All-Newcomer teams

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Samford freshman guard Emily London was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Freshman of the Year for women's basketball at the annual basketball awards ceremony Thursday night at the Nashville Hilton.

London was also Samford's lone representative on the All-Conference Teams, earning second-team honors. She was named to the league's All-Newcomer Team as well.

For the season, London leads Samford in scoring, averaging 12.5 points per game, and she is second on the team in assists, dishing out 2.5 assists per game. She leads the OVC in three-point field goal percentage (49.2%) and she ranks fourth in the league in field goal percentage (51.3%) and fifth in three-point field goals made per game (1.94 pg.).

London, a native of Lexington, Ky. earned the conference's Freshman of the Week award five times throughout the season. She scored in double figures 22 times this season, and she led Samford in scoring or tied for the team lead eight times this season.

London and second-seeded Samford will take on third-seeded Murray State Friday at 2 p.m. in the semifinals of the OVC Tournament at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
