Soccer Media Guide Receives National Recognition

April 8, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford's 2007 Soccer Media Guide was ranked third in District 4 and 12th in the nation, it was announced Tuesday in the College Sports Information Directors of America's (CoSIDA) annual media guide competition.

Samford's third-place finish in District 4 trailed only the media guides from Kentucky and Tennessee. The publication's finish earned the school's highest ranking in women's soccer history. CoSIDA's District 4 encompasses all of the Division I universities located in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.

Samford also placed 12th in the nation out of 66 entries. BYU's media guide was named the best in the country, while Kentucky placed second and Kansas finished third.

Samford's 2007 Soccer Media Guide was written, edited and produced by assistant sports information director Zac Schrieber. Janica York Carter served as the Creative Services Director, while both Scott Camp and Monica Washington designed the layout of the media guide.

Samford's staff photographers Caroline Baird Summers and Ann Wade Parrish provided the photos for the annual publication.

The 2007 Samford Soccer Media Guide is a 92-page publication that showcases the Bulldogs' four-time Ohio Valley Conference champions. The yearly production includes biographical information of all of the players and coaches, as well as the school's record book and historical facts.

Fans can buy a copy of the award-winning media guide by sending a check of $7 to the Samford Athletic Department at the following address: Samford Sports Information, 800 Lakeshore Drive, Birmingham, Ala. 35229.
