Rain, Sloppy Field Conditions Cancel Day One Of Buzz Classic :: The Bulldogs will now begin pool play against Akron and Winthrop on Saturday

WOODSTOCK, Ga. - Day one of the Buzz Classic has been cancelled due to unplayable field conditions following the heavy morning rain at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex. Samford is now scheduled to begin the tournament Saturday at 10 a.m. (CST) against Akron.

After Friday morning's rain storm, officials pushed everything back four and a half hours hoping the fields would dry out in time, but they were still soaked and muddy forcing the cancellation of day one.

Saturday will follow the original schedule and then Friday's pool games will be played on Sunday. Some game times may be altered based on when certain teams have flights out of town. Up-to-date times will be available at www.ramblinwreck.com as soon as they become available.

Bracket play has been cancelled and the tournament champion will be based on results from pool play and tiebreaker scenarios.

Following its game against Akron on Saturday, Samford (8-12) will then face off against Winthrop (10-10) at 2:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Bulldogs are scheduled to play Vermont (2-3) and Western Carolina (2-12).
