Unseasonal Snow Cancels Buzz Classic

March 8, 2008

WOODSTOCK, Ga. - The entire 2008 Georgia Tech Buzz Classic at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex has been canceled due to inclement weather and poor field conditions Saturday. Samford will return home to Birmingham and begin preparations for next week's Ohio Valley Conference opener.

Heavy rain Friday forced the cancellation of the first day of the three-day tournament. Despite the initial setback, officials were hopeful of at least completing pool play Saturday and Sunday, but heavy rain and tornadoes Friday night combined with bitter cold, wind and snow on Saturday have forced officials to cancel the remainder of the tournament.

Samford (8-12) will next be in action Saturday, March 15, as the Bulldogs host the Austin Peay Lady Govs in an OVC-opening doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m., at Bulldog Field.
