Dons Compete In First Day Of Cal/Nevada Championship :: Five Dons qualify for the finals tomorrow in Fresno

In the first day of the Cal/Nevada Championships the USF Track and Field Teams had five individuals qualify for the finals, which will take place Saturday at Fresno St. University.

Junior Alex Nelson won his heat in the 1500m with a time of 3:58.84, and although he didn't qualify for the finals, freshman Ravi Amarawansa set a personal record in the same event with a time of 4:02.73.

In the women's 1500m junior Michelle Born qualified for tomorrows final with a time of 4:44.18 and freshman Nicole Bowler won her heat in the 800m with a personal best of 2:14.75.

In the field events junior Alex Delgadillo qualified for the finals in the javelin with a throw of 47.61m and sophomore Briana Junior jumped to her top three marks of the year and will compete in tomorrows final as well.

Also competing tomorrow in Fresno will be freshman Jesus Romo in the 3000m steeplechase, along with a split squad of athletes competing in the Distance Carnival at San Francisco State.
