Complete Saturday Stanford Results in PDF Format
For the first time in USF Track and Field history the Dons had an athlete qualify for the NCAA Regional meet when senior Jennifer Hartford ran a 16:49.50 in the 5000m at the Stanford Invitational, qualifying by nearly three seconds. Along with being the first Don who will ever run in a NCAA Regional meet, Hartford also set a school record by 27 seconds and beat her personal best by 35 seconds. Also running well on Saturday at Cobb Track was junior Alex Nelson, who once again broke his school record in the 1500m while winning his section race with a time of 3:49.53, just missing the regional standard of 3:47.80. In the women's 1500m race senior Zita Mezei and freshman Nicole Bowler finished third and fourth in their race respectively. Mezei set a season best with a time of 4:32.93, less than two seconds off the school record of 4:31.00 and Bowler finished with a time of 4:36.71. Next up for the Dons are the JJK/Rafer Johnson Invitational at UCLA and the Johnny Mathis Invitational at San Francisco State next weekend.
