Complete Jackie Joyner Kersee Results in PDF Format
The USF Track and Field teams had split squads in action today in the second day of the Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational in Los Angeles and the Johnny Mathis Invite at San Francisco State. A day after two school records were broken in LA, junior Alex Nelson set another school record in the men's 800m with a time of 1:52.99, beating his old mark of 1:53.31, while also finishing fifth in the competitive invite section of the 800m races. Leading the Dons at the Johnny Mathis Invitational was sophomore A.J. Fabrizio who placed second in the men's shot put with a throw of 14.13m. Also placing in the top ten in the shot put was sophomore Alex Irani with a seventh place throw of 12.92m. In the men's discus the Dons got a seventh place finish from freshman Oliver Kirkeby with a throw of 39.41m and personal best throws from Fabrizio (39.04m) and freshman Alexander McHenry (32.16m). In other field events the Dons got a third place finish in the men's pole vault from sophomore Alex McIntosh with a mark of 4.12m, an eighth place finish from McHenry in the javelin (44.31m) and a sixth place finish from junior Brynn Maurer in the women's javelin (33.42m). On the track sophomore Byron Williams finished third in the 800m with a personal best time of 1:55.58 and Colin Hopkins also set a personal best in the same race with a time of 1:58.12. The women were led by freshman Gabriel Harrington who placed fifth in the women's 400m with a personal best time of 59.43, less than half a second away from the school record of 58.89. Also setting a new personal best in the 400m was freshman Arianna Edwards who finished 10th with a time of 1:01.10.
