Three senior USF Cross Country and Track and Field team members were honored with awards Tuesday night at the Student Leadership Award Ceremonies for their achievements in athletics and the classroom.
After becoming the first non-Portland runner in 26 years to claim the individual title this past fall at the WCC Cross Country Championship, Cheyne Inman was the co-winner of the Male Athlete of the Year, which is awarded to "the male student athlete of the year who excels in academics, community service and athletic competition." Along with claiming the individual title this past season, Inman also became the first Don to ever capture four straight WCC First Team honors by finishing in the top ten at the Conference race. This weekend he will compete in the Independent Conference Championship meet in Provo, UT.
Elizabeth Noey and Jacob Marx both received the Charles Harney Award, which is "presented to the male and female senior student athlete who have maintained the highest academic average during their tenure at USF."
Noey, who is a four year cross country and track and field athlete has a 3.949 grade point average while majoring in Chemistry and Marx, also a four year cross country and track and field athlete, has a grade point average of 3.757 while majoring in Media Studies.
