The USF Track and Field teams will travel to Provo, Utah to compete in the National Athletic Conference Championship this weekend at BYU University. Previously known as the Independent Conference Championships, the National Athletic Conference Championship will be hosted by Utah Valley State and start tomorrow morning and continue through Saturday.

Leading the men will be junior Alex Nelson who will be competing in the 1500m and 800m. Last season Nelson placed third in the 1500m at the Independent Conference Championships, scoring six points for the Dons. Also competing in the 1500m will be sophomore Byron Williams and freshman Ravi Amarawansa, who is coming off a victory last weekend at the Santa Clara Open and senior Cheyne Inman who was recently named USF Male Athlete of the Year. Inman and Amarawansa will also race in the 5000m for the Dons.

Joining Nelson in the 800m will Williams and Devin and Colin Hopkins who both set personal bests last weekend at Santa Clara in the same event.

In the field the men will have sophomore school record holder Alex McIntosh competing in the pole vault and junior Alex Delgadillo in the javelin. Sophomores Alex Irani and A.J. Fabrizio, along with freshman Oliver Kirkeby will compete in the shot put and the discus.

Leading the women will be senior Jennifer Hartford who will compete in the 5000m, an event she qualified for Regionals a few weeks ago, the first Don ever to reach that standard. Joining Hartford in the 5000m will be junior Michelle Born and sophomore Laurel Kleiber.

Senior Zita Mezei and freshmen Nicole Bowler and Amelia Holcombe will compete in the 1500m for the Dons, while Bowler and Mezei will also compete in the 800m along with freshmen Hannah O'Neal and Arianna Edwards.

Freshman Gabriel Harrington and Brynn Maurer will compete in the sprints and school record holders Briana Junior (triple jump) and Brynn Maurer (javelin) will compete in the field for the Dons.
