SAN BRUNO, CALIF., -- The 2007 West Coast Conference Fall All-Academic teams honor some of the league's finest examples of the consummate scholar-athletes. At the completion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each of the participating sponsored sports. To be considered, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his or her team. For USF, senior cross country participant Lucy Miller earned her second straight All-Academic nod with a 3.37 G.P.A. in Marketing. Miller also earned a WCC Honorable Mention after finishing 11th in the Conference meet and helping her team to the number 12 ranking in the West Region. Junior Darcy Carroll of the Dons volleyball team earned All-Academic recognition with a 3.35 G.P.A. in Marketing. Carroll led the team and was fifth in the conference with 1,101 assists for the 2007 season. Senior men's soccer player Chris Rodd rounded out Dons' selections with a 3.29 G.P.A. in Finance/Accounting. Rodd started all 16 games for USF and shot the game-winner in a double-overtime take down of Stanford. WCC Commissioner Michael Gilleran had this to say about the selections, "These honorees represent the commitment of WCC student-athletes to both academic and athletic excellence. Every year, it's a difficult process to narrow the long list of qualified nominees from each institution. All of those nominated should be proud of their achievements."
