Feb. 2, 2008

Final Stats

(San Francisco, CA) - San Francisco Women's Basketball fell 68-64 to Loyola Marymount in West Coast Conference action at War Memorial Gym on Saturday. The loss drops the Dons to 13-9, 4-3 WCC. The Lions (12-10, 4-3 WCC) improve their win streak over USF to nine games, dating back to the 2003-04 season.

Senior guard Dominique Carter continues to impress in league play, leading all scorers with 23 points, bringing her career total to 1,694. She needs just nine points to take the seventh spot on the WCC All-Time scoring chart. Gonzaga's Ivy Safranski (1991-95) currently holds the number seven spot with 1,702 career points. Carter also pulled down five rebounds and added three assists.

Junior Guard Shay Rollins scored 11 points and added four rebounds. Sophomore forward Heidi Heintz led the Dons with 11 rebounds, adding eight points and an assist. Senior guard Nykia Peace scored nine points, with seven rebounds and three assists.

Up four (30-26) with five minutes left in the first half, USF went into the half only trailing by two (33-31). Falling behind quickly in the second half, the Dons were within one with 1:38 remaining after a Carter 3-pointer, but the Lions pulled away and earned the four point win.

USF out rebounded the Lions 44-37, took the field-goal advantage, .410 (25-61) to .394 (26-66), and the Free Throw advantage, .900 (9-10) to .579 (11-19). The Dons turned the ball over 17 times to LMU's 10, and the Lions barely earned the 3-point field-goal advantage, .238 (5-21) to .208 (5-24).

For Loyola Marymount, freshman guard Renahy Young scored 15 points with three rebound and three assists. Senior guard Amanda DeCoud and junior forward Jenna Sybesma each scored 11.
