(Moraga, CA) - San Francisco Women's Tennis fought hard, but ended its 2008 season falling to San Diego 4-3 in the West Coast Conference Championships. The Dons took fourth place overall in the tournament.

USF took three out of the six singles matches with sophomore Jenni Heinser defeating San Diego's Monica Wiesener 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1, senior Emma Taylor taking a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Carla Tamborini at No. 3, and Jessy Mekpoh defeating Tammy Kevey 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5.

Falling in a close match was junior Mylene Martin to Helene Lindstrand, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2. Alex Demidova defeated senior Jenny Sperry 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4, and Ellie Faulkner defeated junior Sarah Oudomvilay 7-5, 6-4 at No. 6.

In doubles action, USD swept all three matches over the Dons. Wiesener/Tamorini took a 7-7 victory over Heinser/Oudomvilay (who did not finish) at No. 1. Lindstrand/Demidova defeated Martin/Mekpoh 8-6 at No. 2, and Kevey/Perl took an 8-2 victory over Sperry/Taylor at No.3.
