SFA Wraps Up First Day at Houston Invite

HOUSTON, Texas - For the third consecutive week a Stephen F. Austin thrower has won a weight throw individual title. Sophomore Matt Langdon kept the streak alive in the event Friday night with a throw of 58-10.25 at the Houston Invitational and Multis. It marks Langdon's second individual title of the season in the weight throw.

Along with Langdon, the Lumberjacks also had one other athlete place in the top five of the event. Sophomore Martin Agoes recorded mark of 50-6.25 to finish fifth overall.

Classmate Frednisha Marshall recorded another strong showing in the women's weight throw. Marshall just missed her third consecutive individual title in the event by recording a throw of 58-10.00.

The Ladyjacks also recorded a dominant performance in the long jump section `B' finals. SFA took the top-two spots in the event with Alicia Jackson beating out teammate Tabitha Riley for the top spot. Jackson recorded a jump of 17-7.50 to out distance Riley by two inches.

Freshman Ebbonye Johnson finished sixth overall in the pentathlon with a score of 3,054 points. Johnson recorded strong performances in the high and long jump. Johnson cleared a height of 5-3.75 to finish second overall. She also recorded a mark of 16-11.50 in the long jump to finish third.

SFA returns to action Saturday morning for the second and final day of competition at the Houston Invitational.
