'Jacks Record Several Top-Five Marks Saturday

HOUSTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team closed out the final day of competition at the Houston Invitational and Multis Saturday afternoon at the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse. The Lumberjacks finished the meet with several top-five finishes.

Senior Stephon Rhea and freshman Ty Thomas both advanced to the finals of the 60-meter dash. Rhea finished third in the event posting a time of 6.95, which was only nine-hundredths off the lead. Thomas was eighth overall with a time of 7.05.

Senior Zach Ross finished strong in the 60-meter hurdles. The 2008 SFA team co-captain advanced to the finals where he clocked a time of 8.09 to place fourth overall. The 'Jacks' 4x400-meter relay finished third when they crossed the finish line with a time of 3:34.41.

SFA also posted two solid outcomes in the jumps. Senior Justin Reyes cleared a season-best height of 6-10.25 to finish in a two-way tie for fifth overall in the high jump. Classmate Sumbo Adeniran recorded a mark of 23-2.00 to finish fourth overall in the men's long jump.

The SFA track and field teams will return to action Saturday, Feb. 9, when they travel back to Houston, Texas, for the Houston Indoor Invitational. The meet is slated to take place at the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse.
