Ladyjacks Prepare to Host Texas-Arlington

Feb. 1, 2008

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team (6-12/3-3 SLC) will look to put a heartbreaking 76-75 setback at Texas State behind them as they prepare to host defending conference champion Texas-Arlington. The Mavericks enter today's contest with an 11-7 overall record and tied for tops in the Southland Conference West Division with a 6-1 mark. The Mavericks enter the contest as one of the league's hotter teams having won 6-of-7 and two consecutive.

The Ladyjacks own a 41-12 (.774) all-time record against Texas-Arlington, but have dropped three straight, and 8-of-the-last-9 against the Mavericks. Last season, the Lady Mavs won both regular-season meetings and recorded a 68-47 decision in the SLC Championship game, which marked the second consecutive season that SFA advanced to the tournament finals.

The Ladyjacks will have several promotions taking place at Saturday's game. The game against the Mavericks will serve as the Pack the House challenge. Pack the House is an NCAA wide challenge that every school in the conference is competing in. All fans wearing purple will receive free admission to the game. The student Show for Dough has been doubled to $400. Also the 'Jack Team Reward participants will receive double points. If the Ladyjacks score 60 points, every fan in attendance will receive a buy one meal, get one free from Raising Cane's.

Freshman Ebony Alexander may not be completely recovered from an injury that kept her sidelined for a majority of the early part of the season, but try telling that to her opponents. Alexander set a new career-high in points for the third time in the team's last four games. Alexander netted 16 points, pulled down five rebounds and dished out four assists against the Bobcats.

Not to be outdone by her classmates, freshman Chantol Drennan also posted a new career-high Thursday night when she scored 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
