Rising junior George Bryan IV and incoming freshman Wesley Bryan became the fourth and fifth University of South Carolina golfers this season to qualify for the U.S. Amateur, which will be played at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club Aug. 18-24. The duo tied for third at the qualifier at The Standard Club in Duluth, Ga. on Tuesday.

George opened the event with a 69 on Monday then carded a 71 to finish at 140 (-4) for the tournament. Wesley fired a course-record 63 in the opening round, taking a four-stroke lead into Tuesday's second round. He battled to a 77 the second time around the course and was able to hold onto one of the six qualifying spots.

Joining the Bryans in the U.S. Amateur field are current Gamecocks Baker Elmore, Mark Silvers III and Paul Woodbury. Mark Anderson, who was the Gamecocks' leader in 2007-08, will also play in the event after finishing tied for second at the Colleton Rivers Plantation qualifier in Beaufort, S.C.
