Seth Livingston of USA Today, "The Red Sox sent rookie pitcher Justin Masterson (4-3, 3.67) to Class AAA Pawtucket (R.I.)
with intentions of converting him to a reliever."
Joe McDonald of the Providence Journal, "While Masterson's long-term future is still as a
starting pitcher, he will pitch relief the rest of the season."
Rob Bradford of the Boston Herald, "Masterson's career path still appears to be trending toward that of a starter. Along
with not giving up more than four runs while lasting at least six innings in all but one of his big league starts, Masterson showed
an improved ability to get out left-handed hitters, previously thought to be his biggest struggle."
Mark Remme of MLB.com, "(Terry) Francona made several allusions to how effective he thinks Masterson can be out of the bullpen,
especially against right-handed hitters. "He's very good at giving confidence, so with those words, it excites me just to see what
will come out of it," Masterson said."
From The Tennessean, "Nashville later got an RBI single from Tony Gwynn and a two-run homer from Brendan Katin." |
