Former Aztecs Salaam, Pitts to be Featured in Super Bowl Commercial

Feb. 1, 2008

SAN DIEGO - Former Aztecs and current Houston Texans' stars Ephraim Salaam and Chester Pitts will be featured in a 60-second commercial that will air during the Super Bowl this Sunday. Salaam and Pitts were picked by fans across the country as the winners of the Super Ad contest on NFL.com/superad, beating out fellow alumni Kirk Morrison of the Oakland Raiders and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila of the Green Bay Packers.

The theme of the ad, which is scheduled to appear in the beginning of the fourth quarter, is Pitts' path to the NFL and how Salaam discovered Pitts at a Ralph's grocery store off campus and encouraged him to walk on at SDSU.

Salaam started three years at offensive tackle for the Aztecs from 1995-97 and played one year of basketball (1996-97) before getting picked by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the 1998 NFL draft. Pitts lettered three years on The Mesa from 1999-2001, earning honorable mention all-MWC accolades after the 2001 campaign. Pitts was a second round selection by the Texans in the 2002 draft.

Below is a "behind the scenes" video that can also be found on www.houstontexans.com. To see the Morrison and Gbaja-Biamila videos, visit http://superad.nfl.com/videoresults.php.
