Aztec Football Opens Final Week of Spring Drills With Tuesday Workout

April 22, 2008

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team returned to the practice field Tuesday afternoon to open its final week of 2008 spring drills at its on-campus facility. The workout was the 11th overall and is the first of four this week leading up to the annual Red-Black Game on Saturday at Mission Hills High School in San Marcos, Calif.

"This is a game week for us," said SDSU head coach Chuck Long, who was back at practice after attending services in Illinois for his father on Monday. "We're going to present it to the team that way, before we hit the scrimmage (on Saturday)."

Long also gave his observations of the team's 50-play scrimmage last Saturday.

"I thought the defense stepped forward and our pass rush was much better. Our offense started slowly, but kept plugging and finished well."
