The Aztecs will participate in the Dr. Thompson Invitational for the first time since 2005. That year, the team came in seventh overall with a 54-hole score of 1049 (+185) and were led by then freshman Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.), who tied for 18th place at 40-over 256, marking the second time in two events that she has finished in the top 20. In 2004, the Aztecs were the tournament runners-up, finishing with a 54-hole total of 918 (+54). SDSU carded a 302 in the first round, a 299 in the second and finished with a 317 in the final 18 holes.

Then junior Heather MacRae led SDSU with a second-place finish, posting a five-over total of 221. Overall, three Aztecs finished among the top 20 individuals and SDSU placed in the top two in the team standings in a tournament for the third time in 2003-04.

Rewind: Roberts Leads SDSU In Fresno
San Diego State freshman Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) logged a 76 for the second consecutive day to finish in a tie for 30th place with a career-best 8-over 152 at the Kitahara Fresno State Invitational, Feb. 25-26, in Fresno, Calif. The Aztecs improved their first round team score by six strokes, but ended up in 16th place overall at 58-over 634 at the par-72, 6,072-yard Copper River Country Club.

Roberts was SDSU's top golfer by seven strokes and beat her previous best for 36 holes by three, which she recorded earlier this season at the team's lone home tournament, the Aztec Fall Classic. Roberts remained consistent through much of the second round, logging 12 pars to go with a birdie and five bogeys.

Freshman Kaitlen Miyajima (Wailuku, Hawaii) was one of two Aztecs to improve their score on the final day, as she carded a 5-over 77 after a first-round 82, jumping from a tie for 69th place up to 57th. Junior co-captain Jackie Kazarian ended up eight spots behind Miyajima in a tie for 65th place after lowering her score by three strokes for a two-day total of 17-over 161.

Freshman Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) finished in a tie for 74th place at 19-over 163, while redshirt sophomore Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) rounded out the SDSU contingent in a tie for 76th place with two straight rounds of 82.
