Redhawks Finish Third at Gene Edmonds Cup

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -

Southeast Missouri State track and field continued their indoor season earlier today at the 13th annual Gene Edmonds Cup. The Redhawks finished third in the tri-scoring meet with 134.5 points. Purdue captured their 13th title with 290.5 points and Indiana State finished second with 205 points.

Brianna Egbuka finished second in the shot put (44-06.00), Funtasia Clark finished second in the high jump (5-02.25) and Jerica Hamm was second in the 400-meters (58.62). Precious Elliot and Rachel Kahle both clocked 7.90 in the 60-meters to take the third and fourth spots.

Juli Koenegstein ran to a third place finish in the 3,000-meter run (10:35.95), improving her seasons best by nearly seven seconds, Ashley Brewer finished third in the weight throw (54-00.50) and Whitney Thomas was third in the 60-meter hurdles (8.80). The women's 4x400-meter relay finished third in 3:54.73.

John Berry won the long jump with a leaping 23-08.00, Brandon Colbert was third in the shot put (56-06.50) and Bilal Hameed finished third in the triple jump (46-11.75). The men's 4x400-meter relay captured the title, clocking 3:16.45.

Next week, the Redhawks head to Bloomington, Ind., to compete in the annual Indiana Invitational.
