April 17, 2008

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. on Friday to compete in the McDonnell Invitational, hosted by University of Arkansas.

Field events will begin at 8 a.m on Saturday morning at the John McDonnell Field; followed by running prelims at 10 a.m. Running finals will start at 3:30 p.m. The John McDonnell Field is also the home site of the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships on May 30-31.

Senior Miles Smith enters the meet with fastest seed in the 400-meters and fourth best time in the nation. He will be competing against Andretti Bain of Oral Roberts. Bain was the NCAA Indoor Champion in the 400. Smith finished sixth at the national meet.

Ben Stricklin enters the javelin competition with the second best mark of 65.37m and senior long jumper John Berry is seeded 10th with a mark of 7.66. Andy Croxford is seeded 15th in the hammer.

The women's team will compete in their respective events in hopes of lowering their times and marks as the OVC championships draws near. Key events will be the 100-meter hurdles, 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, 3000-meter steeplechase and the javelin.

Live results will be available at www.Hogwired.com.
