Hot Shooting Morehead State Beats Redhawks

Morehead, Ky. - Morehead State broke out of a 61-61 tie with 3:50 remaining to outscore Southeast Missouri 14-2 to claim a 75-63 Ohio Valley Conference win.

The Eagles who are 10-0 at home this season, made 12-13 free throws in the final 3:50 to seal the victory. Jamyron Steward led four Eagles in double figures with 24 while Maze Stallworth and Leon Buchanan had 14 and Kenneth Faried 13. Morehead, 12-10 overfall and 10-5 in the OVC, shot 50% from the field, 44% from three and 78% from the line.

Southeast Missouri, 12-13 and 7-8, led by as many as nine points in the first half, but the Eagles had a 9-0 run over the final 2:48 to claim a 34-30 halftime lead. The lead was increased to 11 at 54-43 with 11:31 remaining before the Redhawks rallied to tie the game at 61.

Kenard Moore led Southeast with 17 points including 4-9 from three while Rod Pearson had 15. The Redhawks bench scored 44 of their 63 points.

Southeast will play at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday in a 6 p.m. game at McBrayer Arena in Richmond.
