Southeast Falls to Samford, 68-62

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo - Samford rallied past Southeast Missouri State, 68-62 in men's basketball Thursday night at the Show Me Center. The Redhawks (12-18, 7-12) led with 1:40 remaining in the game before the Bulldogs (14-14, 10-9) connected on two straight three-pointers to pull ahead for good.

For the game, Samford shot 12-27 from three-point range while Southeast only connected on 5-16 shots from long range.

Travis Peterson paced the Samford attack with 17 points and six rebounds. He connected on three shots from behind the arc. Trey Montgomery chipped in 12 points. Josh Bedwell added 11 off the bench, including a perfect 3-3 night from long range.

Southeast was led offensively by Jaycen Herring, who scored a game-high 18 points on 6-11 shooting from the field and 5-7 from the free throw line. Kenard Moore, Jimmy Drew and Will Bogan all scored eight points for the Redhawks. Michael Rembert grabbed a game-high nine rebounds in the defeat.

The Redhawks close the 2007-08 season on Saturday night when they host Jacksonville State at 7:30 p.m. Seniors Brandon Foust, David Johnson and Michael Rembert will be honored along with their families prior to tipoff.
